I thought i'd let everyone know that urban terror has a full (free) release for linux now. It used to be that you had install quake 3 to run urban terror but now they have a stand-alone installer that supposedly works for linux and mac. I haven't gotten to test it out yet, but here is the link to the download:

I got to try it out this morning and it works great. A little more info:

* Download both these files:
http://media.digitalamusement.com/urt4/ioUrbanTerror_1.0.zip
http://mirrormaid.yi.org/UrbanTerror40_full.zip
* Unzip the first one
* Unzip the second and put it into the Linux directory from the first
* chmod +x ioUrbanTerror.i386
* ./ioUrbanTerror.i386

That should do it. You can only join non-punkbuster games.

Yes, put it in /usr/local/games instead of your user's home folder.

I want to play on a server that has a good low ping, but it requires punkbuster. I tried to enable punkbuster, and it would not enable, so I believe I don't have it installed. How can I get punkbuster for this game and install it? Also once in a while when I play the game, my console is empty. I see nothing in it, and I can't turn all the way around. My movement is limited. Has anyone else had these problems? I guess it only happens with the Linux version of the game because I asked on the game, and a bunch of windows users never had that problem, but one guy said his console is empty sometimes.

To use PunkBuster you need Quake III Arena instead of ioUrbanTerror.

Just disable PunkBuster servers from showing up on the server list. Where it says PunkBuster: All, click it until it says Off.

The file is some kind of a script, its a .run. I'm using an xp box at work right now and it wont open in notepad, but ill try to run it when i get home.

I downloaded the .zip file, and it won't extract. I need some help with .zip files and/or URT 4.1. I installed 4.0 with an .sh or some other installer. I was wondering if there was one of those around.

Also wondering how to uninstall 4.0. Its not under the Add/Remove.

You have to manually uninstall it as only .deb packages will show up in add/remove / synaptic
