Sound on Supertux is whacked

The sound from Supertux on my Toshiba Satellite laptop is weird. It sounds like it is cutting in and out. My wife says it sounds staticky. It almost sounds like it is underwater. It is not just the music but also the sounds of the game itself.

Has anyone ever heard of that?

I have the same problem. Not quite sure what the solution is yet...
The rest of my sound works fine, but some games, including SuperTux have this problem. I'll try to figure out what kind of sound files the game uses, maybe I just need to update the codec?

As for a fix, it looks like we will have to wait until the next version of SDL mixer comes out, or just play at 100% volume.
