Hey all,
Just wanted to let you know about a theme I found called Bible Fox. You can get it here. (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4516)
Attached is a screen shot of it. I think it is a little smaller as far as screen space, and looks sharp too. Enjoy.

Thanks for sharing this. It just might replace the Faith Browser theme as the default in Ubuntu CE v3.0 (Feisty). :)

I thought about suggesting that, but figured I would just share the link instead. Personally I like it because it doesn't take as much screen space. In one way I like the verse there, but it is a sacrifice of screen space. This theme really looks sharp in my humble opinion. Just my two cents worth. Either way, it is a minimal difference to the big picture. Glad you like it though.

I second using this theme in the 3.0 version. It is much nicer and has a better display area. I am using this along with the Bible Verse extension. I like both very much!

I need your opinions.
I like the look and feel of the Bible Fox theme. I am considering using it along with some other changes to Firefox in the next release of Ubuntu CE. However, I have noticed a few problems with the Bible Fox theme. If you go to the Firefox preferences you will see what I mean. Some of the preferences are not visible, and some can't be made visible.
I may simply add the theme as an option and keep the Faithbrowser theme as the default. I do like the Bible Fox theme, but little things like that can really make things look less than professional.
What do you all think?

Jereme,
I upgraded to Fiesty, and I have all the options available, as far as I noticed. The only thing I didn't have available was the Feeds. But I don't know how to use them anyway. What prefrences didn't work, so I can check them out here?

I'm not sure. Mine is normal, at least the second one. Attached is a screen shot. The first one you posted is the same in mine. I can re-size the window though and see all of the options though. I think we need some more input of others and see if they have this problem too. Not sure what to tell you about it. It looks like a display problem, and I don't know if it is in the extension itself, or has to do with system setup, or FireFox? Don't know what to say? Sorry.

Edit: I'm running Fiesty Beta (upgraded from CE (edgy)) And Firefox version 2.0.0.3

Glad to be of help. It would be nice if we had feedback from others too, to see if this is displaying correctly for others. It would be nice if they include the version of Ubuntu they are running and the version of Firefox they are running, which I added to my post above for the info.

That was a good catch by Jereme. I have some screenshots of issues in the Preferences menus. These won't keep me from using this theme though, as if I need to make changes to the settings I can just temporarily change the theme. I know that is not ideal, but I do like this theme. Maybe these can be forwarded on to the developer of this theme to be corrected.
I am running CE v2.2 with Firefox 2.0.0.3.

Darn thats a good point, well someone could try to contact the person who made it and see if he wants to bug fix or maybe someone could make one just for ubuntu CE. I might look up how to do it when im done with my current project. or maybe when I don't feel like doing other stuff :p

I sent an email to the developer of the Bible Fox theme, along with the screenshots. He also has a "Blue" theme available on his website (http://bodizzlethemes.blogspot.com/), so that may fit right in with the proposed blue theme for CE v3.0, if the developer can fix the issues and it is decided that this theme would be included in CE v3.0.

hey, that is some good eyes! I looked at them all, and still didn't notice even after Jereme pointed a few out :) I guess I may be blind. All of those that you mentioned are problems in mine too. I guess I don't mess with preferences enough. I'm going to try and contact the extension maker and let him know of this thread.

Ooops, I too contacted him. I didn't realize you had contacted him too. Well, maybe he will come take a look with two invites on the problem. I kind of like the brown theme as it goes really well with Ubuntu. The brown is starting to grow on me. I always used to change everything to blue.

:) At least he will know it isn't an isolated incident. I, also, like the brown theme with the current Ubuntu CE colors; but if the poll's #'s are an indicator of the possibility of a blue CE, then at least there is a blue version of the Bible Fox theme available.

Got a response. He will be working on it to get it fixed. Probably within the next few days, and definitely by next week it will be fixed he said. He also is a big fan of Ubuntu, and glad to hear of Ubuntu CE.
A blue Ubuntu, wow that will be nice. I'm getting used to the Brown, but wouldn't turn down a Blue Ubuntu. :)

Hi Shane & Jereme,
I received a similar reply. He will have the updated (fixed) versions posted on his website in the next couple days, but for sure by this weekend. He didn't think it would be much to fix, and was glad for the input.

Please check them out at http://bodizzlethemes.blogspot.com and let me know if there are any other improvements I can make. I changed some minor things such as the scroll bar and background colors.

Thanks Bodizzle, Great to see yo here on the forums! Is there an easy way to make these installable instead of the jar file? I'm not sure how to install the jar file. I know I seen it somewhere, but don't remember where.

Hi Bodizzle,
I have updated both the brown and blue themes, and everything appears to be fixed! Yeah:D Thanks for the quick turn around on this.
I also like the scroll bar much better, as it is more distinct.
Let's see how others like the updates.

I guess it is possible, but it happens when I open it in Firefox as well. It looks like it may just be isolated to my system. I don't think this will hold up the inclusion of it.

I just tested the new updated themes on my Windows pc (yes, I still have one of those for Quickbooks, photo & video editing until I can get use to the Linux alternatives :) ), and it looks good there, also. I wanted to see if a different OS would have an effect on the theme.

Hi Bodizzle,
I just noticed the cross and anchor in the scroll bar, and the other icons that can be added under the toolbar customization. AWESOME! I'm really starting to appreciate the various Christian-themed icons in your Bible Fox themes. I like it before, but the more I use this theme the more I like it. Nice work!

I am glad you like the cross and the anchor. The anchor is one of the lesser known of the early Christian symbols. I threw that in as one of my subtle icons.
I converted Ubuntu over to CE and it looks great. One question I have though is how do you find some of the icons (mainly the orange start button) because I wanted to mess around with changing the color. The orange color scheme with the LegacyHuman theme looks good with the Brown Bible Fox theme.
I did adjust the preference window so it does not cut off the buttons in the Main tab anymore. I have it uploaded at my website under the same version number so just uninstall the Bible Themes and reinstall with the new .jar file.

Hi Brett,
Here are the orange and green "Start" icons. I'm not sure which version of Ubuntu CE you're running, but if you were to upgrade to v2.2 (Edgy) then you would get the orange Start button and menu by default.
Jereme would be the one with information on other icons.

For what its worth, here is my take on the whole brown/blue debate with Ubuntu CE and Bible Fox. I read some of the discussion on the gnome-look.org page regarding the use of the start menu as well as some of the discussion on whether to use blue or brown/orange as the overall look.
I am not one who is going to bash Windows like some of the Linux users out there. Windows is obviously the top dog out there in the same way that Starbucks is the top dog in coffee. There are people out there who will hate both because they are number 1 right now. They have good products but that does not mean they are the only nor the best products out there.
I totally agree with Jereme that using the "start" menu makes it more comfortable for Windows users who may not be overly excited on switching operating systems. For the same reason, former Mac users make their desktop look like OSX and there is nothing wrong with that.
As far as whether to make the next release of Ubuntu CE blue or brown/orange, I think blue has become a Mac theme, Windows has gone with the black/translucent theme with Vista so I think sticking with the brown/orange theme with Ubuntu makes it more of its own OS. I do not like the orange start button much (personal preference). I was messing around with some colors for the start button and I like the brown button from gnome-look.org or one a little darker brown. I also like the legacy human theme better than the new human theme (mostly because it is more brown than orange).
With all that being said, I really do like blue themes but I think either way, blue or brown/orange, it will look good. Ubuntu is by far and away the best Linux distro I have tried and I love the fact that some people have used their abilities to make a Christian Edition of it.
I have rambled on enough so for what its worth, that my 2 cents.
Brett
Here is a screen shot of what I currently have on my desktop. With my wife out of town for the weekend I have way too much time on my hands.

@bodizzle
You make some excellent points. I am torn between sticking with the Ubuntu look and going with something a bit more "mainstream". It is funny, because I am just now starting to really like the brownish/orange look and from a completely practical standpoint it would be much easier to continue with the default Ubuntu look.
Well, I am going to do some testing and see what things look like.
