Greetings fellow gamers!

Just making a survey on "If UGA need a making an account to post, vote and comment". The reason I ask is that the web is flooding with spam bots and people which purpose in life is to spam (what I wouldn't give to get my hands on such persons), which makes it a tedious job to maintain a non-registration free for all posts site.
If we had such system would you make a registration?

The benifit will be;
1) Comment on the news
2) Give your votes on our guides.
3) Much less annoying spams
4) The admins can use the extra energy on something useful.

Downside;
1) It takes less then 2 min to make an account.

What do you think? Just have in mind it's just a survey to see what our user think, we know people think it's annoying to create an account, but it helps to keep things clean.

I think this is a bigger forum issue-spam people still register and spam, I've been thinking-which is more work
1) delete and ban the spam as it arises
2) possibly a post limit of say 5 posts until a mod has looked to make sure it's not spam etc.

I feel the second is good as a general as it allows some questions and freedom, but limits the mass of duplicate threads like I reported recently.

I agree with the sign up accounts. I was actually surprised that it was totally open after the site's second release. A little hindrence on users is totally acceptable to make way for easier site management.

teakers1s idea isnt too bad if you find mods who are keen for all the checking regardless, making peeps sign will atleast allow you to know whos spaming right?

We can see the spammers PM's but they diffrent IPs everytime. With registration system it will make it more difficult for bots to spam.

And just as I'm reading this I see someone posted very very bad xrated spam in our chatbox.

Will this also cover chatbox usage?

I've voted yes.

I guess so that the permission can be set to it.

Registration is now official a reality.
Sorry to those who don't like to registry, but it was a simple of matter I was getting grey hair and a bad mood dealing with <biiiiip> scumbags.

I'm very sorry it have to be that way, but that's reality of the internet today.... :-/

It really isn't a great cost of a user's time to sign up.
