RHEL == Red Hat Enterprise Linux (/me thinks)
And they are not dropping it, just opening up the way Fedora is managed.

Red Hat aren't so much dropping Fedora as releasing it into the big wide world :)
They will still provide financial and engineering support, and will contribute and use the code, but the Fedora project will no longer be tied to the RHEL development cycle.
