Hey Best buy has the Doom 3 add on pack for either 14 or 19 USD this week, all of the price difference is from instant rebates... so that means that if you don't like Best Buy you can get another store to price match them... I am getting my copy today!

Deffinately worth it if you've got a system that runs it well. I don't know how well it runs in Linux, but the windows version requires some pretty hefty hardware to run smoothly. But, all in all, it's an awesome game.

great game. I ran it on my system:
Geforce 4 mx 440
256 pc2100 (value)
AMD athlon XP 1700+
Everything at low resolution, and it gave me around 60 fps... but, Playable. So playable, I HAD to finish the game in the shortest time possible (3 days?). I say PLAY IT. I still need to play the expansion pack, but I'll upgrade my system first :)

Half-Life 2 retails at the same price. Beat that (lol) .

Yeah, but Doom3 runs natively in Linux. You have to use Cedega to run HL2.
Not that I don't like HL2, of course. ;)

That's not a good enough excuse. Half-Life is Half-Life. Now don't make me take that shotgun from you with my ./crowbar.

I've got Doom3 and ROE (linux versions) and they are both excellent. The gfx and sound are absolutely mindblowing, and it's genuinely creepy to play in a dark room with the sound cranked! It's like walking around in a movie. People whinge about the simple gameplay but I love it, I don't have to think too much - just kill stuff.
Yes it is a bit of a demanding application! My box is a P4 2.6Ghz, 1Gb RAM, Nvidia 5900XT. I play it in 800x600 high detail, it runs at 40+ fps most of the time (might chug occasionally) It runs at a constant 60fps in 640x480 medium detail.
If you can get it as cheap as you say, then do it by all means. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I just got RoE for 14.99USD. I fell out of my chair laughing when the guy opened the locker.
