after trying to install VLC media player, my package manager not working. it says error...
" E: Type ‘ftp://ftp.videolan.org/pub/videolan/ubuntu’ is not known on line 32 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list
E: The list of sources could not be read.
Go to the repository dialogue to correct the problem."

...i don't see anything of thar sort in repository.
also how do i edit (or undo read only) text ./etc/apt/sources.list

You can edit the file by going to the terminal and typing sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
