i've recently become aware of my friend's password regarding his university account. So i'd like to use this information to play a (harmless) prank on him. Does anyone have any good ideas how i can edit his shell or something else in his account? common apps we have access to include: pine, pico, firefox, CC compiler...etc. the default shell is tcsh, but bash is also installed (so there is a .cshrc file that is similar to .bashrc file in ubuntu.) we ssh into our university accounts fairly often using a client such as putty.

i'm looking for something a little more clever than changing the shell prompt to something lame like "i'm stupid (~)$"

lets hear your ideas!

ooooooooooh, i learned the hard way that universities don't think practical jokes are funny. you'd get in less trouble stealing a loaf of bread.

tar up all his stuff (docs i mean, leave his dot-files alone) inside ~ and then delete everything outside the tar. Then make the tar a hidden file so that if he does ls it doesn't show (it would show with ls -a though so he could get his stuff)

Many universities consider access another person without permission illegal. I'm closing this thread since it is not in the spirit of the Forum Code of Conduit or the Ubuntu Code of Conduit.
