First let me get some issues out of the way:

1) If this is the wrong board for this I am terribly sorry.
2) I searched and haven't found anything related to this yet. If there is another thread like this I'm very sorry for posting again.

Now the good stuff:

Is there a way to get Ubuntu down to a size that it will fit nicely on to a thumbdrive (512MB or better)? Not only that but is there a way to get it to boot from the thumbdrive? I ask because it would be great to have a thumbdrive to cart around with my linux always with me. I know there are distros specifically geared towards this, but I am an Ubuntu lover and would love to have my favorite distro on hand at all times.

If anybody has done this (or has seen this posted elsewhere) could you point me in the right direction? I'm more than willing to RTFM I just don't know where the M is located.
