Ubuntu was the first Linux distro I ever used, and I love it. I am wanting to try the new version of Foresight and was wondering if all of their cd's or dvd's were "live" as Ubuntu's are. Will they install like Ubuntu? Also I can't find any info on the size of the downloads if anyone has them.

Foresight is a great new distribution and if I wanted Gnome, then I would choose it over Ubuntu. There is a thread here on Foresight started by me, just do a search.
Have you checked out their website and forum? A good place to start...

Foresight is not released as a liveCD distro. You will have to download two ISO files to perform the install. I downloaded them just a few days ago. I believe they are around 650 megs each.
Foresight uses a graphical installer routine that is very easy to follow.

Sorry to contradict the previous poster, but Foresight did make a LiveCD a few weeks ago. It's available for download here (http://www.rpath.org/rbuilder/project/foresight/release?id=5402).

It's NOT a live CD in the normal sense.
You need to run it in a virtualisation environment, like VMWare.
I'm just going to download the DVD iso and install the OS onto a spare hard drive. I usually do this, with any distro, as it gives you a much better idea of the distro and if there are any install problems, without affecting any other OS you may have.

If you're interested, go ahead and try it, but I had a bad experience with Foresight. The update application hung and used all my resources, and the system was slow anyway.

+1 foreight is like Ubuntu in many ways but slower, smaller repos, and less functional. Thumbs down for sure

Wow, that put me off. I'll try it some other time still, but I thought it was like a friendly version of Arch or something.

Hi, I just installed Foresight last night to replace Gutsy, figuring I was experienced enough to handle any problems it threw at me.
I had to use the text-based installer because the graphical one couldn't deal with my Nvidia card. When I actually installed it, X couldn't load either, so I had to manually edit the driver in xorg.conf from vesa to nv to get it to work. The Conary package manager and its GUI, PackageKit, don't mesh together very well. Conary has a lot of clever features but it falls down when it comes to speed. I don't mind downloading a few more unnecessary bits for my programs if it means it installs quickly without making everything else lag at the same time. It also had some issues with my printer which I have too large of a headache to troubleshoot. Sorry if this comes off as a mini-review but I wanted to chip in my two cents.
Suffice to say, I'm typing from Hardy now.

I think I know who to stay away from now... (I mean the distro, not you ;) )
