I saw SMPlayer in www.kde-app.org today and it looked really interesting. Basically it looked like mplayer with qt (nice) looks!
I 'll try compiling it to see if it is really worth it. Apart from that, is it going to be included in the repos any time soon? Is there any interest out there for this app?

tried and compiled very very good player indeed
except I made a mistake I compiled it with qt4 amd it looks ugly!

I compiled it with qt4 amd it looks ugly!You may change the appearence of Qt apps with qtconfig:sudo aptitude install qt4-qtconfig
