Any tips on how to survive in the cold world of compiling from source? Are there any generic guides out there? I'm most interested in keeping things up to date with security patches, specifically for Apache 2.2
Thanks!

Get yourself on security lists and announce lists for the software you are building. Update as advised or required.
Don't update too much at once. Update, test, update, test, repeat.
