Hello,
I'm running Ubuntu on my Intel iMac in a "kiosk-like" application and I have the problem that the screen goes blank after approx. four hours if you don't move the mouse. The screen saver and power save options are turned off, but this still happens.
What to do?
Thanks in advance!

I have a similar issue, running xubuntu on a ramline touchscreen pc. I don't know if it takes four hours, but eventually the screen goes blank (but not off). I just caught it in the act, and heard the hard drive writing while it happened, so I don't think it's a thermal shutdown. Once this happens, it's unresponsive to the keyboard and mouse (when they're connected), the touchscreen, and I can't ssh into it. I have to disconnect and reconnect the power supply in order to get it to start up again.
In addition, after this happens the desktop background is changed from the usual xubuntu image to a solid color, and the system menu has disappeared from the panel.
I also have power saving turned off in xscreensaver, and suspect that power saving may still be to blame. Any ideas? What diagnostic info should I post?
thanks,
ross

Just for the protocol I have this problem too... I turned off screensaver and suspend but after 40min of inactivity monitor goes blank. Luckily, the system is responding
