I want to remove Desktop folder _forever_

Hello,
I'm happy Xubuntu Edgy user but one thing just irritates me: I don't like these icons on desktop and the default Desktop folder, so I just deleted it and everything was fine. But from time to time some application creates it again ](*,)
such as thunar file manager, which always jumps on my screen when I connect my USB, and some other default ubuntu applications behave likewise.

Is there a way how to get rid of Desktop folder forever?

There is a suite of applets that will do what you desire. They are "gTweakUI" --- Galeon, Menus, Nautilus and Session. I believe the one that you would use to do what you want is "Nautilus".

If you have the correct repositories installed, you can install "gTweakUI" from Synaptic. They will be installed in System/Preferences.
