beryl does work with ubuntu edgy eft on my pc. when i type in 'beryl' in terminal this is what i get -

the above looks a mess to me as i have tried various instructions on these forums but to no avail. thanks in advance.

ive had exactly the same problem.

its a bloody nightmare getting anything graphical set up if you have an ati card, its pissed me off so much i have been distro whoring to see if any others will work outta thew box to no avail.

Second to last line, please change Option "Composite" "Disable"to Option "Composite" "Enable"

did a clean reinstall of edgy and followed the instructions here (http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu_Edgy#How_to_install_Xgl.2FBeryl_.28ATI.29)
everything a ok now!

Here is something for you to try. I downloaded both "Automatix2 and Automatix Bleeder". Automatix Bleeder has "Beryl" as one of the few choices that are available.

I had been trying for several weeks to get Beryl to run with Edgy to no avail. With Automatix Bleeder, it is running perfectly. I have all of the eye-candy and everything works great.
