I have decided that Neverwinter Nights looks worth buying to play on Ubuntu.
The problem is I have no idea what all the different versions (Platinum, Deluxe, Diamond, etc) are all about...
I checked eBay and couldn't find any Platinum versions. I also looked at wikipedia to see if that could explain all the different versions but it didn't really help.
I would be grateful if someone would spare a moment to explain which version I need or what my options are...
I want to run it on Edgy and I'm in the UK if that makes any difference to the names of compilations.
Cheers in advance.

Diamond is probably the only one you can find in retail stores nowadays. It comes with the two expansions, Shadows of Undrentide, and Hordes of the Underdark. It also comes with a few premium modules, smaller things, can't call them expansions, but still fun, extra content.
Well worth it, cause I think you can pick up diamond for like $20-30 now at Best Buy or your local gamestop or whatever. They are great games. I'm actually replaying them all right now.

it's a shame that the first expantion basically forces you to make a new character because if you play with your 16 level character from your previous game, it's be far too easy to play.
but the second expantion is meant for level 15-16.

I don't know about all the other versions, but I still have the very original NWN and seperate copies of the expansions, and those worked just fine.
Remember all you need to actually get NWN up and running is a CD key from the original game, you can download the client program and all the game's resources (legally) from bioware, and never actually have to touch the CDs in the box. If you get seperate copies of the expansions, those are easily installed.

Aww man. I wish I had read this thread BEFORE I just went out and purchased NWN. I had it back in the day, but lost the CDs, but I still have the Instruction book with the CD key...
Oh well, at least now i have the expansions.
