i an new to ubuntu and have had my linksys wireless adapter with windows xp i have recently dual booted my hard drive to use ubuntu but cannot get my wireless adapter to work with ubuntu so cannot access internet on ubuntu partition please help all help much appreciated thank you

Hi Andy,

I have the same wireless adapter. It works for me with Ubuntu 6.10, but I didn't get it to work with WPA. Try it without encryption first. Then try it with WEP.

If it doesn't work for you, please give some more information. Does the interface show up when you choose System->Administration->Network ?

What do you see when you type:
iwlist scanning

You can check if ubuntu configured you wireless correctly by looking in the file /etc/network/interfaces. (Do not post the complete file to this forum because your wireless keys may be in there.)
