I use gnome. I have added 'beryl-manager' to the sessions startup...and indeed, beryl loads automatically. The problem I have is that the icon is not showing up in the system tray. If I do not have beryl start automatically and manually start it after gnome has completely loaded, then the icon always shows up.
Any reason? Any fix?

Just chiming in here. I use Beryl on Kubuntu Edgy, and I also have this issue-- Beryl starts automatically, but there's no icon in the system tray. If I click Beryl-Manager in the start menu, it displays the beryl-icon popup menu on the desktop, as if it had come from the start menu item. I'd rather have the icon in the system tray.
Thanks for any thoughts/advice!

Aha...well, that sheds some light possibly. I have kubuntu installed as well, but was having problems with "freezing" (everything froze, mouse included, could not ssh into the machine)...so I 'sudo apt-get remove kubuntu-desktop' and 'sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop'. However, my original install was still kubuntu...so maybe that is the commonality between our problems.
Still hoping for an answer,
Chris
