Well, I finally have Ubuntu installed on one of my computers with a mid-range CPU (P4 2.8GHz) and graphics card (GeForce 6800 AGP, I think). I decided to install Beryl as well, using the automatic script available from the official site. It took nearly sixteen hours to do so, mainly due to some 200 Bytes/sec. download rate, for some odd reason. Nevertheless, the guide said NOT to interrupt the script, so I didn't. I let it run completely until it was finished and told me to reboot.
I did and, after rebooting, attempted to log in. It started to load everything up, but then it went to a black screen with a cursor in the upper-left corner, then back to the login screen again. I've tried it twice more since then with the same result.
Can anyone help out this Ubuntu & Beryl newbie to get them both working again? I'm not even sure if this is the proper place to ask this question, but I figured it would be a good enough start. If there is a better place, please let me know and I'll be happy to post it there. Thanks.
