It would be off if they didn't put the linux installer on it.
Any idea what specs are needed to run UT3?

Hmm I don't like the "If we do linux" thing, I sure hope they 're gonna do it

yeah but he said it as kind of an afterthought, like oops, i didn't mean to say that yet or with the rolleyes like, well it's bloody obvious we're doing linux, but i'm not meant to say

They are .. they just like being secretive. They are making the UT3 editor available for linux so there is no reason they wouldn't do the same for the game.
I wish they would put in anti-cheat protection but they are too cheap to do it =( By the time the cheats go public, most people move to other games anyway. If anyone has been following, UT2004 has no good anti-cheat protection. The current anti-cheat is a joke that only detects cheaters if they run a script named "aimbot" or "wallhack". The worst idea for an anti-cheat tool ever.
As for system requirements, you'll probably want a 8800GT for high detail but a 7800GT will probably run well on medium settings. No idea what the minimum will be to run it. I'm personally waiting for the next wave of Nvidia cards so that I can jump in and play UT3 in high detail without having to upgrade again.

Yeah, it seemed like that to me, but I'm worried about the reasons why he's not meant to say. They can clearly do it from a technology point of view from the way he said it first, but I'd assume that Microsoft are putting pressure on them not too.
Also if they go down the Games for Windows Live route then that would throw a huge spanner in the works as far as Linux multiplayer goes, I mean if it would prevent them doing PS3 multiplayer support, then it would definitely stop them on the Linux side. (Which would clearly be awesome for Microsoft).
It was also interesting to hear that Microsoft are thinking about controlling the content for Games for Windows Live, like they do for the 360, which would mean no mods (unless you could afford to get them though the certification process, and there is no way the vast majority of mods could jump though those hoops). It may well not happen since it's a very VERY stupid idea, and would prevent any of the really good games developers (Epic, Valve, ID, ... )from supporting games for Windows Live, since they love mods so much. But the fact that Microsoft are even considering it for more than half a second is a very telling criticism of how little they understand gaming on the PC platform.
It'll be awesome if Epic go with the Sony route, meaning that we get to play in Linux (woo!), and also that PS3 gets mods and multiplayer, and 360 gets unmodded single player only :)
But I get the impression that Epic are very happy with how Microsoft supported them with Gears of War, so there definitely is an incentive to do was Microsoft tell them. Lets just hope Sony get their act together and give Epic some incentives not to go down the Games for Windows Live route, and give the game the freedom it deserves.
