The final sarge release is coming closer and closer...
Status: Release is scheduled now for the 6th of June 2005 see here (http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/05/msg00020.html)
I'm really happy that sarge is now so close. My server waits...

I really do not see the big deal.
Even if they do release it, it still does not detect most hardware, and you have to do a bunch of manual configuring to get things to work, if you can get it to work.
I'm afraid I have spent too many hours trying to get it to work. Ubuntu has won me over.

The big deal is that what's good for debian is good for ubuntu. I personally never intend to install debian, and stick with ubuntu, but since ubuntu's built on debian, this can only be a good thing.

I'm thinking of setting up an Ubuntu server (because Debian release cycles take ages).
So, I'm curious, what kind of problems did you find?

I've setup some ubuntuservers here at work and 2 at home.
They work like a charm.
No default ports open at install.
More recent and stable packages + security updates.
Isn't distrowatch.org being hosted on a warty server?

not exactly sure on that note however warty/hoary both performed well as servers on my old 500mhz celeron, although my church has a debian backup server of sarge testing... only because i installed it before i learned of ubuntu and its easy to manage with webmin and ssh. (yea i know i can use those in ubuntu)
