Hi, I have serached through the threads for ages and cant find a way to fix this problem. If I open quake3-smp (only one that opens to allow quake3 to run on my AMD64) as user, it continually prompts me to enter my CD Key and I can't save any of my changes!!

As root everything is sweet but as user nadda, zip, nothing......

I cant find the .q3a/ folder thats supposed to be made that has my q3akey file or whatever it is, so I'm assuming its not being made. Here is what I have done.

Considering root was okay I though eh, so maybe its a permissions thing so I made the quake3 folder and all directories and files under it read/write/executeable by me, the user - NOTHING, moved quake3 folder to somewhere where user has complete control - ZIP!!!! NADDA!!!

Any hints my gamng gurus????

  SOLVED HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!!!!!!!! Awesome!!!!!!!! Wanna know how, then ask me I got AMD64 gaming downpat!! "OHHHAAAAA!!" I'll post a How To Do In a couple of days....

Own up, it was a permissions problem wasn't it? Quake 3 config file owned by root? :D Naughty naughty running games as root [-X.
