I just installed Ubuntu on my laptop and im trying to compile a few programs. When I attempt to use the "make" command all I get is this:

bash: make: command not found

Ive compiled many programs on linux before and I have never had this problem. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Install appropriate development tools. Use Synaptec if you wish - look under the development category.

Install the package build-essential, which contains make, among the other things you need to compile.

sudo apt-get install build-essential
