i'm kinda new with ubuntu, but can nebody tell me what first person shooter games are out there for hoary 5.04

Well, there's Enemy Territory, Doom 3, Quake series, Unreal Tournament series, and America's Army, all Linux native.

There's a lot of Windows games that will run under Wine or Cedega. I'm personally running Call of Duty that way.

You can also find a slightly buggy linux client for "Medal of Hounour: Allied Assault", which you need a complete windows copy of that actually play. I also have an old Lokigames version of "Heavy Metal: FAKK2", which is aged but fun in a Lara Croft kind of way.

It's software that allows you to run Windows applications (games too) on Linux.
