I am on my Dad's PC and he won't let me install anything or boot anything but Windows on it.
He has the account system for XP set up but somehow when I downloaded and clicked the python installer it installed. Now all I need to do is to add python to the autoexec.bat so I can actually run my Python scripts. Although I cannot edit the autoexec.bat without having administrative priveleges. So pretty much for 2 weeks I have the internet and maybe python. I reallyhave no useful programs on here such as a non-WYSIWYG HTML editor all I have is a crappy Seamonkey WYSIWYG editor.
So what should I do for the next 1.5-2 weeks? I have a X360 but the only thing I have for it is Gears of War and that turned stale about 2 months ago. Recently I decided since I only have 2 years until I have to choose a major and just because I want to learn I started to start learning various computer concepts. I am on page 55 or so in the greenteapress.com Python book and I have written a couple simple conversion Python programs like to calculate interest and such.
I also want to learn possibly another programming language once I understand the concepts of programming from Python, a language such as C++ or Java (one that would be directly helpful for a job)
I also want to: start learning some about networking (the intro to networking class 2 years ago went completely away) but I find it hard to learn when not doing hands-on work, learn advanced concepts of building PCs ( I have built my own but I don't know much about overclocking or choosing the right RAM with the voltages, stuff like that. Also understanding what certain types of hardware to get depending on what the PC needs to be used for ex: multimedia or something else) getting more familiar with the DOS and BASH shell, web design and creation (all I know right now is how the HTML tags and such work because I am not very far in my book), and stuff about multimedia like video editing and the disadvantages/advantages of certain codecs and how that multimedia stuff works.
I find it hard to learn anything unless I am doing it hands-on so I don't know what to do that is actually productive such as learning about some of those things if I cannot install any programs or boot into anything other than XP.
So what should I try to learn over the next 1.5-2 weeks while I am restricted?
