There is a huge difference in the price that people in the US and the UK are paying for Windows Vista the new Microsoft Operating System.

Too bad more countries didn't get together in this...to have more weight!

Why would I want to sign this? Surely this is the wrong forum for getting non sarcastic answers?
Am I the only one holding back my sarcasm here?

That is a good idea, but I don't think it will work. Microsoft doesn't care if you have to rob a bank to buy Vista, they just want as much of your money as they can get.

I'm going to have to hold back my sarcasm as well.
Why would I ever want to sign a petition about a product that I don't give a damn about? Posting this on a Linux forum was an interesting choice.

They'll probably say, "Okay, we'll just make it all to the high end." :)

We should start a petition to make Vista cost MORE!!!
It's far too cheap, all the hard work Willie and his minions have put into making it finally look as good as Linux!
And all that work he had to do liasing with the Music and Video industries in order to make Vista decide whether or no to play your files?
He should be knighted by the Queen!
Ungrateful buggers! :)

I don't see any reason to be sarcastic; if you don't like it, don't post.
Besides, I posted in the "Other OS Talk" -Windows Discussions- and that's exactly where this topic belongs.
There is NO intention of starting a "war" again and I hope nobody will.
If I go to a friend's funeral in a church doesn't mean I believe in God.
I mean, I often found that the Linux community at large is rather open-minded.
Nothing wrong with being aware of what's going on in other parts of the computer world:
Nothing wrong with not being interested in what's going on in other parts of the computer world.

If I go to a friend's funeral in a church doesn't mean I believe in God.
....fair enough, but if you started asking people at that church if they would donate to the "Build more Satan worshipping churches" cause, do you really expect them to have any sympathy, or even give only witty sarcastic comments?
If I went to a gay bar and started asking people to help the "Gay-ness is Genetic" campaign, would I expect to come out with sizeable donations of anything other than cuts and bruises?
I mean come on, nobody is being nasty or jeering you, and you are quite welcome to say whatever you want.
But PLEASE don't be surprised when people (on a forum called Ubuntuforums, ie a "church of Linux") laugh at the notion that we should fight to make Microsoft Windows more affordable, ergo help to turn people away from Linux!
Being the nice friendly people we are, we naturally assume that you're just having a laugh, so we respond accordingly.
Now if we weren't a nice friendly bunch, we would think you were a complete loonie, and probably say some very nasty things, as I'm sure you would experience if you went onto a "Vista" fanclub page and asked them to sign your petition to make Linux more available!
Regards, Kev :)

This is a noble cause, but online petitions won't change a thing. If British citizens really want to even out the price, then tell Microsoft directly by simply not purchasing Vista. There are plenty of viable alternatives these days.
