hey,

this is my first post here, been using Kubuntu and ubuntu on and off for the last month or so, keep switching due to Kubuntu's stability, or lack of. anywho im back with kubuntu for various reasons and i have just installed doom 3 with the newest 1.3 linux installer. when it starts up i get the cd-key thing and it just doesnt accept any cd-key at all. i will admit its not a legit cd-key, however iv never had this problem in windows. i also get the exact same problem with UT2004 CD version. ive found a work-around for both so far, using the DVD version of UT2004 seems to allow cd-keys and running the 1.1 doom3 installer lets me bypass the cd-key dialog. its not critical i was just interested as to why this was happening. if its a case of the cd-key being illegal then ill leave it at that, though its interesting that it dont happen in windows.

oh and does anyone know why doom 3 runs better in Kubuntu over Ubuntu, when running in GNOME i was getting really bad controller lag, where if i pushed i button, it would take a couple of seconds 2 respond, however running in KDE is perfect.

any ideas would be greatly appreciated, am newish to linux and wanna learn more about it.

apologies for the amount of questions, thought it would b easier than multiple doom3 posts

regards

because you are installing the game with a newer version of the game, 1.3, that version might check out the latest fake cd keys.
