View Full Version : Getting Ubuntu CD's

Anyone have any idea why I keep getting denials from ShipIt for CD's? I ordered a Ubuntu LiveCD last may and then ordered a Kubuntu LiveCD in June. This past August I tried to order a 10 pack (so I could easily pass them out) and was denied. I tried again in early Feb. for another 10 Ubuntu CD's and have again been denied? Are we allowed only 1 order of each version from them? I realize that I can make copies of the one I got last May, but it would be nice to have it look more "official" than me just writing Ubuntu 6.06 LTS with the marker?

Thanks,
John

I had a very similar issue. I later provided them with the reason that I was going to distribute it to some friends and they approved it (after 5 denials!).

Ubuntu is in very high demand right now :)

Canonical is also working on revamping the shipit process.

Patience is a virtue :)

Here's a OpenOffice document that will print the 6.06 label found here in the forums. It's derived from Ubuntu and Canonical's Image so I hope they don't mind me posting this file.

This should print on almost any cd labels including Stomper and Memorex.

Its not perfect, but does look better than Perm. Marker.

Where/how did you do that? I only see the form to fill out the request. I tried to use "Linux SIG" as my organization, but I guess that didn't work. As posted below, patience is mine; but if someone wants to spread the word faster, we need more CD's. But I can wait. I was just wanting "perfect" copies (as opposed to ones that I could make that might have flaws) to give out.

Thanks all.

I started making my own CD's. I have an Epson 200 printer, so I can print right on the CD, it looks very professional. If you are in Columbus and need some CD's, give me advanced warning and I can make some for you, even the Xubuntu CD's. As long as demand is not high, I can do it for free, but if I get too many requests, I would have to charge for cost (about $1 per CD).
