So I checked the Windows updates for XP SP2 and guess what instead of there being a fix for daylight savings time there is a WGA update. I already have WGA installed because I had to get something from microsoft.com so I am not happy. Where can I tell if it got instalelled? I had 4 windows pop up and 3 said the install failed and the other said successful.

Sometimes, updates (including updated WGA notifications) require a reboot but don't actually request it. Reboot and try again, via the Microsoft Update web site.

get rid of WGA, your computer will run faster!
you can disable it VIA registry hack or
goto run
services.msc (msc= microsoft command/code)

anyways.
there is no real way to tell if its installed.
at least not until the time. (at least none that i know of)

get rid of WGA, your computer will run faster! Why would it improve system speed to remove WGA? IIRC WGA only checks when you're installing certain applications, which would seem to offer little room to improve overall system performance.

Actually, when I used to have WGA installed on my system, my computer was unussably slow until I disabled it from the task manager.

Isn't WGA one of those things that when you disable it frmo task manager, it reloads itself? At least that was the nag on a lot of pirated systems. :)

I will need to find and try that registry hack. Windows already gives me a popup on boot because I disabled automatic updates after it tried to update WGA (aka, Windows Genuine Annoyance). After I told it not to install the update a few times, I finally told it to install then declined the EULA.
