I'm getting crappy performance in UT2k4. Any solutions? Thanks! (compared to my windows install, the fps is about 1/3, and that's wiethout AA/AF/vsync etc.
It got even worse since I patched/ECEed it. Maybe this is becasue it uses the 64-bit client now and that messes it up?

What do you mean "crappy performance"? Video-wise, bad colors, or what? Please give more details.

I'm not...entirely sure about this from UT2k4, but in UT Gold, you go into the preferences menu and you can reset your video settings. Mine did the same thing when I was at a high resolution and still playing in an even higher resolution. I had to crank UT down to 640x480, and run my system at 800x600. I'd recommend trying that. If that doesn't work, you can also try resetting it to automatically (adjust or detect) settings, and allow ANY video, instead of just the recommended.

Lol, I'm thinking something mroe along the lines of "Damn Linux". ](*,) :-? (x800 user here used to getting 75fps constant (vsync=limit), now I get in the 30s with no AA/Af/anything.)

Its not linux fault...
The manufacturers are responsible for their drivers... the linux community cant help with it... and ATI seems that dont want to make good linux drivers...
nvidia a long time has started making drivers with pixel shader and a lot of stuff... but ati.... ](*,)

ATI is the brick wall and NVidia is the stone door. :P

yeah the linux nvidia drivers on gives about 10 - 30% boast over windows (benchmarking with umark could hardly beleive it myself :)... plus with no major drive fragmentation the load times are far better... Sorry all you ati peoples :)
You mentioned 64 bit ut, which verson of ubuntu are you running ? Also are you running the right video drivers ? your os, video drivers all need to be 64 for the best results... thats if you have the 64bit hardware of course >_>
