Seriously, how do portage-base destros get so much attention? Portage is so...ugly.

Nils Olav,

Just because you couldn't get Gentoo installed doesn't mean Portage is ugly. ;) </joke>

I know your joking but just to clearify: I mean ugly in a coding elegance way.

Good god man come on. Are you trying to force something? Come up with some kinda opinion with substance or something. You start out your life on the forum by bashing something? Man.

Useless thread.

I wasn't trying to bash anything, I just made this thread because theres no mention of gobo here (at least that I could find) which disappointed me a little bit.

Your right. No bashing. Sorry.

Just have more substance. Give reasons why you think it get no respect. Jump start the chat.

Right, okay then:

GoboLinux is freaking amazing. It manages packages very elegantly. The file system hierarchy is much more intuitive then FSH is. The boot is quick. Yet not to many people seem to care.

I wouldn't say it gets no respect (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=295071&highlight=gobolinux).

Search -> "GoboLinux" it doesn't get more straightforward than that mate. :)

Quite, but I also suspect RAV has a very recent machine, 64 bit Core 2 with a fancy RAID setup or something (do correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just assuming and this is completely based off of a few of his posts). Many distros won't boot on that sort of hardware without a bit of messing around. I'd say some of the problems he typically encounters are very specific to his cutting edge hardware.

That is not to say they aren't problems, they are very real issues, but they do not apply to most of us with slightly older, more "conventional" hardware.

Not to insult the community but do popular threads often become as silly as that one?

I think GoboLinux is amazing...it would be more amazing if ALSA wasn't broken.

And yes, we do get that silly. :) :lolflag:
