I was thinking of buying the PS2 Linux kit (most likely from e-bay,) but I figured I'd ask if it worth it first? Like can you do anything worthwhile on it? What I was planning on doing was mostly using Gaim on it, and occasionally Firefox, but I'm not sure if it's actually worth it?

Also, is it possible to use the kit if you have a slim PS2?

Edit: And also, would it be better to buy a pre-modded X-Box so I could install DSL on that? would that be a better option or would I run into problems with being able to get on the internet?

Im guessing you would need the hard drive add on for the ps2, so Id say that an Xbox would be the better option.

It's a lot slower then what your probably use to. I don't think it's worth it.

The slim PS2 can't use a hard drive without modification so that might be a problem. The mods work for game related hard drive usage, so I suppose it would work with the Linux kit. Though it's probably easier to buy a cheap old PS2 especially if you haven't moded before.

I don't know what's like, but it's got to be better than PS2 Yabasic....
