Ok I'll bite. How does one go about becoming a "member" other than the site registration?

A member is someone who's made a substantial contribution to the Ubuntu community -- of any type -- and who has who has explicitly agreed to the code of conduct. A list of Ubuntu Members can be found online.
edit - lol !!

Congratulations! I'll check up on this as well and get things going for myself to to be added as well. Sounds cool, looks like fun, and seems to be a great crew to join with!

Thank you all for the information, as for what I provide the Ubuntu Community. I am a professor (Security Auditing and Intrusion Detection) along with different levels of Linux. My classes use nothing but Ubuntu. For client to severs. For me this is the best disto I have ever used. (for a note I started my client expercience with Caldrea Edesktop 2.4) If that gives any of you hard-core users an idea. ;-)

The person just wants to show us all how he/she has helped in the spreading of Linux in his community (awsome btw), making him a -possible- candidate :-D.

Awesome :D sorry I didn't quite clearly understand the post before, thanks for clearing that up for me bored :)
And of course yes, we do appareciate members that would be great candidates in which will show their full support to the forums and also the projects as well in the long run :)
bored2k - You might want to add "had" in your signature for it to say If you had the chance ;)
Sorry I notice small things, but if you meant to have it like that, no big deal :)

Do you not see the irony ?? Beware: about to get philosophical, leave while you still can!
If you (had) the chance, would you erase me ? A lot of people would have answered "Yes I'd like to.", even close ones perhaps. But what if you remove had from that sentence ? Doesn't make much sense right ? That's the point. No matter how badly you want to erase somethings/someone, theyre there for a reason. :D

I must be the dummest mod in the forum, because I still don't get it.

The (had) has been erased. It's part of the sentence being erased. So it's philosophical, recursive, and just interesting ;)
Edit: but discussing bored2k's sig is a bit off topic, back to the members!
Thanks for the congrats people! I must admit, reading the logs, I'm a bit starstruck ;)

No no, don't worry or apologize. You were completely on-topic. :) If you want to become an Ubuntu Member - you just have to list those items on your own Wiki page - and then apply to be a member. :)

I doubt I've made a substantial contribution to the community, but I've tried here and there. My forum prescence has been reduced lately because of my workload leading up to the end of school.
I'm glad to see some of the awesome people here getting the recognition and props they deserve for everything they've put into all of this. Ultimately Ubuntu seems like more than just some code to me, which is the great thing about it. :)
Neat news:
I've gotten the tech director at the school I teach at to be interested enough to try a Linux lab with a few old PCs that were kicking around. I get to set it up and keep everything working. Wanna guess what those computers will be running? ;)
My wife is finally ready and even a bit eager to start giving Ubuntu a shot after my three month love affair with it and with GNU/Linux. Photoshop is a little bit buggy (window display, not actual functionality) in Wine still, which I can't seem to fix yet, but I'm sure it'll iron out soon.
My wife and I keep old parts around as we piecemeal upgrade our computers. When we have enough parts to make a whole new comp, we slap em together and give them to a friend in need. It's time for that again, and our buddy M. is getting himself a nice new(old) Hoary box to web browse and listen to his tunes on.
