So what exactly does that "Home Premium for System Builders Single Pack
DVD - OEM" mean? Is this a full OEM version or a minimal version or
just an upgrade package?

Also I have bought 2 DVD drives OEM and they work fine, are there any disadvantages to purchasing things like this OEM?

OEM means a full version - there are no upgrade OEMs.

OEM versions have some licensing restrictions over the counter versions don't - IIRC you cannot remove the OS and install it on another system. That's probably not a big deal.

You also don't get free MS technical support with the OEM product.

If it's anything like the XP Pro OEM I'm using at present, it could be a big deal if you ever get deactivated for upgrading too much, too soon, so the OS thinks it's running on a different computer. That happened to me, and now whenever I have to reinstall XP on this computer I have to do it over the phone; Internet activation won't work anymore. The rep also asks me what happened and why I have to reactivate the product, which doesn't set well with me at all. It really does feel like Big Brother.

"Trusted computing?" Evidently, this is supposed to mean "We don't trust you at all, but you must trust us to know what's best for you."

Still, if you're at all curious about Vista and are positive you won't be doing any major upgrades any time soon, I'd say give it a shot. At least then you can say you've tried it enough to form an honest opinion about it...
