According to my experience, Ubuntu is far more easier to use comparing to other Linux distributions (Madriva among them). Thus I would recommend you install Ubuntu!

Senjai,

I've used both, Mandriva first and now Ubuntu. The thing that got me frustrated with Mandriva was the segregation between paid for use and Open Souce use. If you pay (e.g. Power User Pack) for Mandriva you get a better deal. This is exactly the sort of thing I was trying to get away from (ex XP user) so in the end it got to me. I had no particular complaints about Mandriva, indeed the things I do in Ubuntu I could do in Mandriva, but I feel more at home with Ubuntu and sense that it will meet my needs for some time to come.
The Mandriva Forum was good, I'm getting used to the Ubuntu ones, but I miss that more than anything.
I don't feel like a second class citizen with Ubuntu, long may it continue.

You can also purchase books on Ubuntu from your local store or Amazon, you can't do that for Mandriva specific texts.

I hope you join us.

Kindest regards

My experience with Mandriva ended when I tried to download their install through bittorrent. There were just a handful of seeds out there. The ubuntu torrents had 10's if not 100's of seeds. I figured that if I could find that many seeds for ubuntu, I'd have more luck finding help with it.
