Ok, I have two questions.

1: I have installed wine on my computer and I am trying to run Guild Wars. I used the method here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=283122 that is supposed to be able to run Guild Wars. I used the updatewine.sh method. When I try to run Guild Wars I get an error message saying "Guild Wars has detected that your video gard may not be support Guild Wars...." ( I have an Nvidia GeForce 4 MX420 video card) I click continue and wine runs Guild wars in really small window. See image below. If the image isn't working tell me please.

2: I am trying to install Beryl so I need to install a 3d acceleration driver (at least I think I do). So I install the Nvidia driver that I found ( I found a few and they all do the same thing ) but after I install it and reboot my computer, the X server wont start. I have an Nvidia GeForce 4 MX420 video card.

If anybody could help with either of these problems I would appreciate it. Thanks.
Oh, and I don't really know anything about Linux so I would appreciate it if you could give directions to me in terms that I can understand. Thanks.

So I got smart and I configured wine to emulate a desktop that was my resolution. The only problem is that it runs really slow, there is really choppy, it hangs when it tries to load the game after I log into my character, and it still has an error about the graphics card and when it does it changes the resolution of the emulated Desktop to 640 x 480. I have an Intel Pentium 4 2.53 GHz. So I dont see why it's so slow. I am still having problems with beryl.

So i'm guessing that this graphics card isn't that great? And yes I have changed the games gfx options. Except i tried installing a driver for the card so that I could run Beryl and now Guild Wars wont run because it is "unable to initialize a 3d output."

So do you think i wont beable to run Beryl or Guild Wars unless I get a new Video card?

Yes, Guild Wars runs just fine with this card under Windows.

You need a directX 8, capable card. I'm currently using a GForce4 TI 4800/128Meg of ram, & it is straining under the load, but still usable for GW.

I would think that an MX card would have a hell of a time with Guild Wars, at least under Wine/Cedega!

Thanks for the info. I scrubbed the idea and decided to install Ubuntu on my other computer. It has some off brand Video card but it works great.
