Hi,

I am customizing my Ubuntu desktop, and I want to remove the help submeny found under system main meny. I cant find the solution to this anywhere. It seems Ubuntu has "hardcoded" the help submeny, and to make it almost impossible to remove.

Any experts out there for a little challenge?

I would highly appreciate any help in this matter, since I have been sitting with this problem to be solved for a week now... =)

Thanxs!!

If anyone else is having this same dilemma, I want to share that with Fiesty, the help submeny is gone, and replaced with just an ordinary help and support meny option. So now I dont have to waste any more time on solving this tricky dilemma of mine.

Nice to get that silly bookexcerpt meny option away... =)

Hi,

Iam trying to remaster ubuntu and with that I also want to edit the gnome-panel too, so that to display a customized main menu after the installation.
I went through a lot fo remastering HowTos but none mentioned editing gnome-panel. Any suggestions ? Plus it would be good if you can elaborate on how you edited gnome-panel on your desktop? Thanks!

Hey there,

Sorry cant help you. It took too much of my time to research how to do it...and my menu problems where solved with Fiesty. So I am not spending any time to find out now.

Good luck!

try using a different menu.

Ubuntu system panel is quite nice and totally customizable. Other than that, I'd check out the main gnome site for info on your questions.

originally I had wanted to create a new menu, for certain users who prefer fewer apps than I have installed on my system, but there are already a few alternatives out there, and afaik work is still continuing on the gnome-main-menu (or the SLAB/SLED that suse put out a while back)
