I've download VisualBoyAdvance after looking for a good gba emulator.
Whenever I load a rom and play for a few minutes, the games freezes. This happens with all the games i've tried.
Also, I've tried the GnomeBoyAdvance and VBA Express front-ends, and both have had the same problem.

If you open VisualBoyAdvance using the console, does that console prints any errors on the crash?

I bet you're using a gamepad for playing vba...
If that's the case, I'm pretty sure that the screensaver is the culprit. That is, vba freezes whenever your computer becomes idle. Just wriggle the mouse every now and then before the comp becomes idle.

Oh by the way, first post here in the forum!

I was facing freeze from VBA express too.
However, mine seems to be different from this. When I was playing, it suddenly freeze and won't close with click the 'X' button or right-click the panel and select 'close'. It was troubling me, which the CPU usage was hog by it. I googled up how to kill the process, which found kill -9 [process id] to kill it. However, I discover that the process number keeps changing all the time, which makes it impossible to kill it this way. The last option I have is restart the pc. Anyway, I played it once in a while most of the time and haven't encounter any issue so far. This is the first time.

Anyone encounter this before? And any solution for this? Thanks
