Hi I noticed over the years that there have been a lot of good suggestions in the "Forum Feedback & Help section". Most of these posts get buried as many users do not frequent or even ever visit there.

This thread is for users to discus features that people would like to see added to the Ubuntu forum.

The more I get involved with Ubuntu Linux and Linux in general I find I am exploring more and more things. I am trying to study Web page design etc and feel that there should be a amature development section wich would include programming, web design, data bases etc and any other stuff that would fall within this catagory including flash development and possibly even gimp and Blender. This would expand the Ubuntu comminity and offer more community support way beyond anything else there is available on any Linux forum.

Now why would this be good, simple look at the power of the How to's they alone have had a huge impact on the community. I feal a expanded amature development section including programming will add a lot to the community with how tos for development work and other stuff such as listing programs available in Ubuntu and a place to discuss them. Also another powerful feature would be to allow for the discussion and how information on usefull programs that are not available in synaptic or backports and also allow for information on how to install bleeding edge versions of programs.

One interesting part of this is that it would expand community support to amature development and development uses of Ubuntu.

Anyways is there something you would like seen added to the forums yu might not be alone in on this.

There is one thing I hate about this forum, and everything else I love.

That one thing is the Edit feature. The quick editing works nicely, and I don't mind that. What I do mind is that the most obvious button to click is the gigantic Post Reply button, and not the tiny save button. Even though I know to click save, I almost always click Post Reply first. This brings me to a new screen (to post a reply), and I lose my edit, which is always frustrating. If it were possible to disable this button during Edits, that would be great.

Just a question: Why do you have to click on the icon before posting a quick reply?

Hi I noticed over the years that there have been a lot of good suggestions in the "Forum Feedback & Help section". Most of these posts get buried as many users do not frequent or even ever visit there. Even though the Cafe gets more traffic, discussions about forum feedback belong in the forum feedback subforum--that's why the subforum exists.

I've moved this thread there.

There is a forum council meeting coming up next month [March 2008]. LaRoza has added the web developer forum request to the agenda and will attend the meeting.

If you have an interest in web design (using Ubuntu), lend your support by voting in the poll (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=585863) associated with a similar thread. The council is more likely to approve the request if we can demonstrate a sufficient demand for the proposed sub-forum.
