I downloaded an image off the Internet. Not compyrighted. It is JPeg. I tried to install it as my avatar. It will not regonize the image. What do I need? .bmp, etc?

At the bottom of the Avatar section:

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 90 by 90 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller).

Use a program like GIMP and resize the image to 90 x 90.

I doubt it has to do with the file format. JPEG should work. But you should note the size restrictions: Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 90 by 90 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller).

By the way, I've moved this to the forum help forum.

Thanks alot. Why was my thread moved? Just interested. BTW, do I need to keep "reloading" the page to see if someone has answered my question?

I moved it to a more appropriate place. That's all. Your question has more to do with this forum than with Ubuntu as an operating system.

And, no, you don't have to keep reloading the page. There are "subscriptions." I believe the default behavior is that you subscribe to any thread you start or post in. If you go back to User CP, you'll see any updated subscribed threads since your last visit. You can also change in your user options to be notified by email when subscribed threads are updated.
