welcome to the pure:dyne shrine

pure:dyne has been created to provide a complete and ready made environment for artists and developers who are looking for a free operating system dedicated to realtime audio and video processing.
pure:dyne is a GNU/Linux live distribution based on the new dyne:II core (http://devel.dynebolic.org/). You don't need to install anything, pure:dyne is running from the CD itself. It can directly boot from virtually any PC machine, or Intel Mac, and the optional hard-drive or USB-key installation is just a matter of copying one folder.
This particular live cd brings you the latest exotic FLOSS (Free/Libre/Open-Source Software - read more (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FLOSS)) such as Supercollider, Icecast, Csound, Packet Forth, Fluxus and much much more, including of course Pure Data and a great collection of essential externals and abstractions (PDP, PiDiP, Gem, GridFlow, RRadical, PixelTango ...).

In the meanwhile, here are a few tips:

Getting pure:dyne is just a matter of downloading an ISO (a big cd image file). Once downloaded, use your favorite cd burning software to write this image on a blank cdr or cdrw.
To access pure:dyne you need to turn on your computer (PC!) with the CD in. Make sure that the CDROM is the 1st boot device in the startup sequence of your BIOS (see your motherboard documentation).http://puredyne.goto10.org/wiki/UserDoc

pure:dyne consists of the following parts:

1. A modified version of the dyne:II core
2. A pure.dyne module that contains pure:dyne applications
What is dyne:II?

dyne:II is a system derived from LFS (http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/) and initiated by Denis Rojo and Alex Gnoli from dyne.org (http://dyne.org/). It provides the core functionalities such as booting, nesting, docking and the modular system. In other words, dyne:II offers a platform in which a complete live distribution can be built upon. For example, dyne:bolic 2.x is the result of the dyne:II core system.
What is the difference?

pure:dyne, on the other hand, is not only a live distribution built using the generic dyne:II, but also contains several customized core components. Because of this, pure:dyne can be said to be using a customized dyne:II system developed by Goto10. For example, pure:dyne contains its own kernel (purekernel.dyne) and has a different optimization policy. Moreover, pure:dyne also provides some developers' tool(puredevel.dyne & pureiso.dyne) that are unique to it. In short, pure:dyne not only consists of a pure.dyne module but also its own branch of the dyne:II core system.
The relationship between the two cores is by no means independent of each other. That is to say, the development remains very close between them. As a result, changes can easily be merged. For example, new features introduced in the modified dyne:II found in pure:dyne could potentially be merged into the generic dyne:II after they are tested and proving to be table. Similarly, new components in generic dyne:II can be adopted by pure:dyne's customized dyne:II. Last but not least, any dyne modules are universal which allows applications to be used and shared between the users of these different systems.

now this is very interesting I wish Debian/Ubuntu and Gentoo/Sabayon
would have the same relationship of dyne:II/pure:dyne.

hello team,

I have managed to ru both pudedyne and dynebolic, and messed around with them.
That didn't do anything to my system.

I found quite frustraiting that puredyne would run in a PIII 700mhrz with 8 Mb of VRam
And couldn't make it work on a Dell i6400 Centrino Duo, too new I guess.

Also
