Office Ultimate 2007: Word, Excel, OneNote, Powerpoint, Access, Accounting Express, Outlook w/Business Contacts , InfoPath, Groove, Publisher--$680

Office Pro 2007: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Accounting Express, Outlook, Access, Outlook w/business contacts--$500

Office Small Business 2007: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook w/Business Contacts, Accounting Express, Publisher--$450

Office Standard 2007: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook--$400

Office Home 2007: Word, Excel, Powerpoint--$150

Pretty expensive products but the Office products (2003 anyway, have not tried 2007) are actually pretty well done.

Windows Vista Basic-$200
Windows Vista Home Premium-$240
Windows Vista Business-$300

compare Windows Vista Basic price to the new price of Windows XP Home ($200)
compare Windows Vista Business price to the new price of Windows XP Pro ($300)

The price of XP has gone up to match the similar Vista versions to encourage the switch, a common marketing strategy of course but I do not approve.

Thoughts?

woah, so if i want the stuff i commonly use(Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access(thats the database one yeah?)) i would need to shell out $500 and get a bunch of crap i wouldn't use.

can you say $%^£ that.

(notes the irony that a random keyboard strike brought up both the dollar and pound signs.)

No matter what it costs it will always appeal to the lowest common denominator
