OK, so I started playing Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst (http://psobb.com) for the PC last week. I tried to install it under Ubuntu using the assistance of WINE. WINE installed it, but only after downloading a new installer. I can get the initial splash screen that allows you to change the options, but as soon as I hit "Play Game," it dies. At this point in Windows, nProtect, an anti-cheating program used in Ragnarok and Lineage II, should launch and check to see if everything's good. If it is, it launches the game. If not, well I'm not sure exactly. WINE, however, crashes when nProtect tries to run.
Now, would this be because the nProtect window is not really a window? It doesn't have the normal title bar that Window's windows have, and it appears in the upper left corner of the screen. This behavior is very similar to what I've seen in other Window's programs that don't have a proper title bar, as well as programs in X when no window manager is loaded. This may not have anything to do with why WINE crashes, but it was just something I noticed...
Anyone have any ideas? I would give most anything to be able to play this game at my Dad's house after school and during the summer when the game finally leaves beta.
Thanks in advance.
