So last week my girlfriend gives me an e-mail about a woman that has to get rid of all 3 of her cats because of allergies, or put them down. The woman was very broken up about it and what not. Now, grant my roomates and I have one cat already and we're not allowed dogs   I decided to adopt one.

Her current name is Annie and she's 6 years old, the pic is in crummy condition (taken on my roomate's palm), but she's brown-orangish has tiger stripes but also looks like she's tortise hair. But she needs a new name. I was thinking something Greek Mythology-ish. My girlfriend suggests Cleo.

and another pic, she is the cat on the right, kind of balled up.

LETS PLAY NAME THAT CAT.

That's a unique cat feature: adoption. I'd like someone to try and adopt my 7-8 year old German Sheppard "Sasha" or my 3 year old Rottweiler "Bill". Ouch.

Here's the other catch, i really would like something unique, not really a 'common human name'...

not paris, not helen, I don't like paris hilton with a passion and helen is a common name.

I would LOVE to adopt your dogs... I wish we could have a dog... :-(

Those are from Greek mythology names dude. Have you not read the iLiad (http://darkwing.uoregon.edu/~joelja/iliad.html) (Homer)..

Well, what is the cat's mood ? You can't name Garfield a proactive cat. [example]

I wanted to name her /. or /dev or root and i even suggested Fortran, but my g/f decided that Fortran was the worse class for her Meterology degree, so that's out.

My cat's name is Isis, after the Egyptian goddess of fertility. It's a fairly ironic name, as she's fixed...

EDIT: Well, threaded mode sucks. This got attached to the wrong post. Meant to reply to the original. Oh well...

Sparkles would be cool too, but you can't deny how fresh and unique Sparkles the Ferret Cat would be

Dunno, if I was ever to get a cat I would name it SPARC, likewise with a dog which I would call ALPHA.. at least geeks would like the names, and god knows it beats Fido

Hugin and Munin (from Norse mythology: the two ravens that flew across Midgard by day and returned to Odin with news (and probably crapped on his shoulder on a regular basis))

I like Nemo (not from the movie) and Spock as names.

Remember, it has to be a FEMALE name...

I suggested SPARC and ALPHA, but that didn't go over too well.

I like Sparky the Ferrit cat though.... hmmmm....

keep them coming

PS- Bored2k, i know they're from mythology, I just don't want a common human name as well

Since you're a Christian, you may like these. They're Hellenized forms of Jewish female names:
Erotion, Protous, Dosarion, Tryphaina, Sambous, Ptoullous, Herais, Euterpe, Alexandra, Ambrosia, Domnina, Diogenis, Saprikia, and Thaumasis.

Go with Cleo, that's the best one here so far, and I once had a cat named cleo who rocked! Good name for a cat. :)

Freya, from Norse mythology. She had her chariot pulled by cats.

Also, a verse in the signature, good idea. May have to do that myself.
