*edit* This post was clearly a mistake. I don't believe in deleting or majorly editing postings: what a user says is what he says. However, please chck my reply (post #4) for a explanation of this thread. Sorry to anybody I offended.

As I'm sure most know, Windows Vista was released recently. With it come many brand new innovations. As everyone here at Ubuntu forums seems nice and fair, it is only right to give credit where credit is due. With that, please give your favorite Vista innovation(s). I'll start:

It's a toss-up between "Gadgets," Vista's new, innovative name for OSX's "Widgets" and our own "Desklets", Vista's 3d desktop effects, which have been provided by Beryl and Compiz for years now, their new ways of combatting piracy, including installation of spyware on a user's computer, and their nine different ways to turn off a system.

I considered making this a poll, but decided that, as Vista's *innovations* are seemingly endless, this thread should be open-ended as well.

Whatever happened to "please don't use this as a bashing area"? Forgotten how to read?

Now I know why I don't use linux anymore. Get over it mate. Stop being a fanboy and start acting more mature.

Not everyone likes linux and with your attitude its easy to see why. Let the people who want to use Windows use it, while you can sit proud in your little box with the knowledge that not everyone is as enlightened as you.

In an effort to save face and prove my literacy, I would like readers to consider a rewording of my point below in a more mature and less sarcastic way:
I don't see why users would use Vista, because while it is definitely an improvement over XP in some areas, mostly visually, it doesn't run on old hardware. In addition, I am able to do everything I see in the Vista feature list with Ubuntu with vastly inferior hardware. While this is not meant to bash Windows, it is simply a statement of how I feel about the Vista operating system, and why I have chosen not to attempt to use it, though my hardware may fit the minimum requirements. It is clear from the responses I have gotten to the post thus far that it was both worded wrongly and taken wrongly. Thank you for considering my reply. If you'd like, you are welcome to reply with reasons for using or not using Windows Vista.

I know it's not technically Vista dependant - But my fav = .net, especially 3, with that WPF stuff it's fantastic.
-Powershell is also an interesting addition

-Ipresume you will need Vista to run the latest versions of .net - I wreckon 4 will heavily rely upon faster hardware.
