I downloaded the Linux from scratch disc image and burned it to a CD-RW using Ubuntu, specifically using the CD/DVD creator program. I put the CD with Linux From Scratch on it into the drive , then shut down my PC and rebooted. My BIOS is set so that the Floppy boots first, then the 2 DVD drives, then the USB hard drive then the internal Windows hard drive.

Linux from Scratch loaded to the boot screen where I was asked to hit enter to boot or hit F1 for boot options. I hit Enter then it loading a bunch of lines of text saying it was recognizing drives and other things like that and then it said it couldn't find the LFS LiveCD in any of the drives (Try 1/3) Then it never would find it.

So I rebooted then hit F1 to go to boot options and typed in the command to tell it to try and boot from a SATA CD/DVD drive. It did the same thing.

I have an Asus P5B Deluxe/Wi-Fi AP motherboard that has an Intel ICH8R Southbridge and an Intel P965 Express Northbridge.

Here are the Storage Devices
PATA 1 x ATA100 up to 2 Devices
SATA 3Gb/s 7 x Internal SATA 3.0 Gb/s ports
1 x External SATA 3.0 Gb/s port (SATA On-the-Go)
SATA RAID 0/1/5/10 Matrix RAID
Additional RAID Controller JMicron JMB363

Please help I really want to do Linux From Scratch to learn more about Linux.

I've never seen the menu before but try running the live disk with 'nodma'

I think you have a disk you should try redownloading and burning it

I have no idea what the problem is, you could try asking on lfs mailing lists, or on irc.
But, even though it may be safer and easier to use the lfs live cd, it isn't the only way.
You could use another livecd. Or you could even do it from an existing linux distribution.
It's just that it'll lack the lfs manual, and the sources of the softwares, but you can get both from your lfs livecd, or from the net.
It'll also maybe lack a clean build environment.

you might just have a bad burn, it happens.

Bad Iso or a bad burn, most likely.
