audio problems with ubuntu on a G4 MDD ppc

Hi, I get awful audio quality with ubuntu on a g4 MDD powermac dual 1.4. I`ve tried out all check and un-check options through the audio presettings, no way. can anyone help me, plzzzzzzz :(

Try turning down the PCM and Master channels in the volume control. If they are cranked up the whole way, you can get distortion.
