I am also interested for Ubuntu/Debian packages for Eric 4 Python IDE.

There is an installation guide on Linux Format August 2007 LFX95 page 74. Yes they are ahead in time and the !. But right now I am reluctant to take the risk of breaking things on my production laptop just to evaluate new software. We know that the Eric Python integrated development envinronment uses the latest stuff that is not yet available on the most common distros.

That's for eric3. for eric4 you need to download eric4 from the project's website and install qscintilla2. It's not in the repos, though.

So download it from debian:

http://packages.debian.org/sid/libqscintilla2-3
http://packages.debian.org/sid/python-qscintilla2

After that it will compile just fine.

I usually install it manually everytime, not so hard.

Obsolete now as eric4 is in the repos.

But on a different tack.

I'm looking for some kind of tutorial. The one on the website is okay to chapter 5, but way over my head after.

So if there is anybody out there also interested in learning eric/python one could communicate via instant messaging or email and perhaps even come out with a tutorial for true noobs :)
