I was looking at the AA forums and it appears that the latest linux version is 2.5.

I believe they stopped making AA for Linux. You have to use an old version to play on Linux, I think. :/

Before I found out that I saw 2.7.0 so probably now I'm gonna check the history.
I found it like it said Planet something... on it

I hate it because that has to be my favorite game of all time.

So if they've stopped releasing new versions for us, I have a question:
What are the Linux AA players doing? Are you going to keep playing the native 2.5 or will you start using Wine/Cedega and stay with the latest windows release?
I'd like to get into the game (never played it but it's right up my alley, based on what I saw on the website) but I don't want to go through the giant download for 2.5 just to find out that there won't be anyone to play with.

Ryan (Icculus) stopped working on the client side of AA, he just ports a server build for hosting AA game servers.

Hello...
I'm trying to get a 2.8 server up and running on Ubunto 6.10. I cd to the directory where server-bin is located and type the following command:
./server-bin Global Insurgent_Camp INI=server.ini LOG=server.log -nohomedir
It returns this: Permission denied
So I tried using this:
sudo ./server-bin Global Insurgent_Camp INI=server.ini LOG=server.log -nohomedir
and it returned this: command not found
I'm at a loss! The file server-bin is there, so I'm not sure what it can't find. Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you!

Make sure that you have rights to the folder and the files on the user account you're using...
This is how I start my server...
./server-bin GLOBAL SFhospital.aao -nohomedir ini=theserver.ini log=server.log

I am currently downloading the 2.8 version for Linux. I have a dedicated server to run it on but I'm not sure of what version of Linux I should use. Also, if anyone could advise me on the server setup after installation, I would appreciate it...thanks in advance
My server specs are below
Dell 6300
Quad P2 450mhz
1.25gig ram
9gig hd

I set it up on the Ubuntu desktop version because I had already burnt the CD. I would imagine that the server version of Ubuntu would work, though.
