Hello,

I'm current running edgy without any major issues. However, I was perusing through my sources.list one day, and I noticed http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/ for Dapper-commercial distribution was enabled in the list. I do not recall ever adding this repo (it may have been added by automatix2?). I'm going to assume I can trust this repo, but should I change the distro to edgy-commerical? I've updated and installed a lot of software with synaptic without any issues. Can dapper and edgy repos be interchangeable to an extent?

Which brings me to a second question. I'm currently having issues with wxWidgets and aMule (the familiar search tab crash issue). I currently have wxWidgets version 2.6.xxx, and I have read elsewhere that the crash issue can be fixed by installing the latest version 2.8.0. I visited the wx official site, and they have repositories for their latest releases. Unfortunately, they only offer repos for Dapper x86 or Edgy on amd64. Can I use the dapper repo even though I'm under edgy?

If these questions seem utterly noobish, I apologize. I've only recently dove into the world of linux (and I'm lovin' it).

Feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Id assume you could trust that source considering it seems to be (though it may not be) from canonical who make Ubuntu. The dapper packages have been compiled for dapper and thus may or may not be interchangeable with the edgy repos. So to an extent Id say, yes, they could be interchangeable, but it would depend on what you download. My advice, leave the edgy repos alone. The psychocats webpage has a frresh list if your interested in looking at that.

There is only one way to find if that new repo will work and that is to try it out. My bet is that it would still work but I couldn't be too sure. If it doesn't you havent lost anything but a little time.
